In addition to Tivic Health Systems, Dr. Gurfein holds an appointment as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Gurfein received a Sc.B. in Neuroscience from Brown University, a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and completed postdoctoral work at the University of California San Francisco, where he subsequently joined the research faculty. In Dr. Gurfein’s academic and industry research, he has developed devices for central and peripheral nerve neuromodulation, investigated novel strategies for neuroprotection and repair in the multiple sclerosis lesion environment, and studied the influence of psychological stress on immunity and cellular aging. Dr. Gurfein started volunteering with Community Housing Partnership in 2016.
